Charted in 1952 and merged with the Eastern Region Chapter in 1962, the Hudson Valley Chapter is continually improving its services to its members. The following are samples of the many and varied services performed:
-Labor/management meetings are held to discuss issues in a timely manner in order to solve problems before they become serious.
-A steady flow of qualified and productive electricians is assured by Chapter members who are part of the Joint Apprentice Training Committee (click on JATC).
-Chapter members sit on the Board of Trustees for all the union benefit funds.
-Labor agreements are negotiated by the Chapter’s negotiating committee.
-At regularly scheduled meetings, member contractors and associate members share knowledge and information. Labor issues are discussed and legislative initiatives and strategies are devised. Guest speakers offer services and/or products designed to help the contractor.
-Legislative issues are actively monitored and pursued by the Chapter, through the State Council of NECA, the Council’s lobbyist, and National NECA Government Affairs Committee. The Chapter also maintains a Political Action Committee Fund to support our government officials. The Wick’s Bill, Hours Worked Bill, OSHA reform, and Davis Bacon Reform are among the bills supported by the Chapter. The Chapter was directly responsible for the passage of the electrical licensing law in Orange County.
-Training programs designed to protect the contractor and increase his productivity are offered. Estimating, Effective Supervision (Foremanship), Project Management, OSHA Compliance, to mention a few, are offered in seminars, videos, on line courses and published manuals.
- Code refresher seminars are sponsored as needed.
- Information and assistance on licensing is provided to members as needed.
-Social functions are held and worthy charitable associations are supported.
Chapter members have the support of a professional national organization of over 4,000 members. The largest and most successful contractors are NECA contractors.
